Foley & Lardner Adds 4-Lawyer Husch Blackwell Real Estate Team in Texas | Texas Lawyer

Foley & Lardner has expanded its national real estate team with a four-lawyer Husch Blackwell group in Texas that brings a practice concentrated in Texas and California.

The team includes Tyler Johnson and Sadie Fitzpatrick, both in Dallas; Kevin Garland in Houston, and Alexandra Jashinsky in Austin. On Monday, Johnson, Fitzpatrick and Garland joined Foley & Lardner as partners, and Jashinsky as of counsel.

Wisconsin-founded Foley & Lardner is expanding its real estate team in Texas because of the growing economy, said Daljit Doogal, the firm’s chairman and chief executive officer.

The Husch Blackwell lawyers are a good fit, he said, because they are collaborative and entrepreneurial, and have a good concentration in health care and renewable energy real estate projects. Energy and life sciences and health care are two of the industry sectors the firm focuses on.

“Real estate is a big part of our firm, too. We are always looking at the future,” Doogal said. “In Texas, you see cranes all over the place, a lot of development going on in Texas.”

Johnson said his group works closely together and began recently to look for a new firm because their practice has grown nationally. Foley & Lardner’s network of offices, including locations in Texas and California, is a good fit, he said.

He declined to identify the group’s clients, but said they include national multifamily developers, big box retailers, hospital systems, real estate investors and developers, developers in the single-family space and the build-to-rent space, and stream and wetland mitigation banks.

A spokesperson for Husch Blackwell did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the departures.
