This cozy, mountain-top N.J. house has an amazing view — and a moderate price tag

This house is ripe for a bidding war.

It’s a two bedroom, two bathroom faux log home perched atop Mt. Nebo in Milford. It has breathtaking views of the Delaware River out the whole backside of the house and from the patio and pool.

“It’s not a big house,” said Howard Spencer 5th of Coldwell Banker Realty – Flemington, the listing agent. “It’s a cozy little house with an incredible view.”

The 1,425 square foot home was listed June 5 for $425,000 and, within two days, Spencer had 27 showings scheduled.

“My phone hasn’t stopped ringing,” he said.

The property consists of the main house, a two-car garage with a third full bathroom and a kitchenette for entertaining by the pool and another building that’s being used as a workshop and has its own heating and cooling.

The home has generated interest from a variety of buyers — those who want it as an investment property they can rent out, people from Pennsylvania or New York who would use it as a weekend home and people who live locally, Spencer said.

“People are always looking for something unique,” Spencer said. “It’s rare something unique comes up for sale, especially with views of the river. And the price is really good.”

The home was featured on Old House Life, a Facebook group with 1 million followers. The post has more than 300 comments and more than 1,500 reactions.

Most of the comments mention the view. Several are critical of the interior of the 1955 home, which has a red tile main bathroom. And there are several comments about the property taxes being more than $10,000.

One person commented, “Amazing! It’s beautiful and definitely gives me a different perspective on New Jersey!”

Another said, “Would never expect that view in Jersey.. Literally my dream pool view.”

The one-story home has Pella windows and doors along the back wall providing views from the living room, dining area and primary bedroom.

It has a stone, wood burning fireplace and faux log cabin walls, meaning they are surface-mounted logs, Spencer said.

The home is located on the top of Mt. Nebo where there are only a few homes. It’s in Milford, a 1.27 square mile town with a population of about 1,200 people, according to U.S. Census data.

The median sales price of a home in Milford was $427,500 as of April, according to the most recent data available from New Jersey Realtors.
