I’m 6 ft 5 & bought a tiny home – there was a big sacrifice in the bedroom

A VERY tall man has shared his experience after moving into a tiny home with his family of four.

The $116,000 pad was able to feel quite spacious even without modifications, except for one major compromise.

Taylor and Brittany appeared on an episode of HGTV’s House Hunters when they decided to downsize to a tiny home.

The most obvious problem with that would be Taylor’s height – 6ft 5.

Rather than build their own or hire a builder for a custom project, they decided to buy a ready-made tiny home.

They specifically wanted one on wheels so they could take road trips with their two boys.

What the pair settled on was a $116,000 model with a fully fitted kitchen, open living room, and two loft bedrooms.

“We haven’t regretted it for a day,” said Taylor.

Although it was much smaller than their previous home, the property came with some surprising features like a double vanity in the bathroom.

The staircase to the loft also lifted automatically to provide extra space in the living room.

Upstairs in the loft was the master bedroom, but Taylor had to make a big sacrifice there.

Unfortunately, it could not accommodate a California King, but the pair decided to compromise to make their tiny home dreams come true.

Not only were Taylor and Brittany able to buy their home without a mortgage, they could also live rent-free.

They parked their tiny home on a friend’s land and used the surrounding space to start a small farm.

“It feels like we’re living in the country, but we’re only really five minutes from town,” said Brittany.

And aside from his compromise in the bedroom, Taylor was happy with the headroom of his tiny home.

“The height is great. I don’t have to slouch or duck down or anything so it doesn’t feel super claustrophobic.”

TURNING TO TINY

Brittany and Taylor aren’t the only Americans who recently decided tiny was the way to go.

Jake and Kiva felt like they were wasting money while living in a rental so they moved into a 20-foot-long home for the same price as a normal downpayment.

The couple designed and built it from scratch largely on their own, spending no more than $26,000.

Another homeowner built their tiny home for under $20,000.

Or you can even move into resort-style tiny home communities.
