SOUTH HAVEN, MI –– Before Anthony Penrose ventured into real estate, he spent a life flying Boeing 777′s across the world.
Each country he visited would influence the way he designed future homes. His most recent build was constructed this year on the historic North Shore Drive in South Haven.
It’s curved roof, industrial siding and open feel makes the contemporary home feel a bit like an airplane hangar.
The home, 443 North Shore Drive, is on the market for $5.7 million.
It sits on 0.56 acres and features five beds and seven baths, with 5,205 square feet.
A long concrete driveway leads directly down to a private Lake Michigan beach.
The five-car garage has better views of the sunsets on the lake than most homes do, Berkshire Hathaway realtor Andy Klavins said.
The home is listed as two stories. But with two sets of stairs leading up from the main floor, a massive garage and two spacious patios, it gives the feel of a lot more.
The wooden staircases themselves are floating and imported from China. Each footstep triggers a sensor that lights a path upward.
The inside of the home offers a minimalist take on lake life.
The walls are white, allowing marble countertops, modern and roomy bathrooms, wooden accents and paintings hanging throughout.
A corner office boasts wall-to-wall windows offering picturesque sunsets each evening.
Aside from a few items on a reserve list, the listing comes full furnished, including a golf cart.
Klavins, who is a resident of South Haven himself, believes that North Shore Drive can compare to the status of Lake Shore Drive in Chicago. He says the food and boutique shopping downtown rivals the Chicago, too.
